BIRDS OF AUDUBON
These images are part of a photographic series I undertook during the pandemic while I was quarantined to my home and my photography subjects were limited. The series was created in response to John J. Audubon’s Birds of America illustrations, and specifically those illustrations with birds from the Carolina region. With travel and access being limited this summer, I photographed what was in my immediate vicinity - the contents in my home. These photographs were a visual exploration that created a conversation with the Audubon illustrations to question our relationship with the originals as we encounter them in an altered appearance and presentation.
